International Programs Building

Project Description

A new 4,510 square foot IVD Building will replace the existing ARA Building that houses the offices for International Programs. ARA is actually comprised of three trailers connected side by side and was remodeled and "improved" repeatedly over the last ten years to meet program growth and health and safety standards.

The college will realize significant benefits from integrating international students into the college community. Relocation of the program to an appropriately designed and constructed permanent facility will meet the current and projected program needs for a rapidly growing international student community at GRCC.

The new IVD building is sited in the existing International Village complex which includes the necessary utility service infrastructure.

State funding in the amount of $587,000 was available for the replacement of 2,500 square feet. However, the design developed to accommodate International Program calls for a larger facility. The additional $300,000 funds associated with a larger building were acquired through a one-time allocation from International Program revenue.

Construction is expected to last one year, with completion and occupancy anticipated for November 2004.
