The Social Science
Division is accepting applications to be considered for adjunct
instruction. Adjunct instructors are appointed quarter to quarter
based on student enrollment.
AVAILABLE COURSE:
P Sci 100: Introduction to Politics (11am daily, main
campus)
An introduction to the discipline of political science and to politics
itself. Students explore and analyze political philosophies, political
ideologies, and the historical development of political thought,
democracy, authoritarianism, and the major “isms” (liberalism,
conservatism, capitalism, socialism, communism, and fascism). Explores
the kinds of governmental structures that are associated with each of
the ideologies. Students will begin to assess how well each ideology
has dealt with the social, economic, and political problems of the
world, in the past and present. Students will further explore and
analyze why and under what conditions people choose any ideology over
others.
P Sci 202: Introduction
to United States Government and Politics (8am daily, main campus; MW at
4pm in Enumclaw)
Introduces students to the American political
system – its origins, institutions and operations. Students analyze and
understand politics, power, and resulting policy. Examines formal and
informal institutions of government, conventional and unconventional
means of citizen participation, and political outcomes. Explores the
strengths and weaknesses of various interpretations of American
democracy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Political Science.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful
teaching experience at the college level.
SALARY:
Salary is determined by the college salary
schedule, and varies depending on the degree and mode of instruction.
