POSITION PURPOSE:
The
Fiscal Technician III - Temporary, Hourly performs
detailed fiscal cashiering work under general supervision. This
position will act as
the first contact for the department and must demonstrate
strong customer service skills and cash handling experience; have
the ability to work both independently and as a member of the
cashiering team; use guidelines and exercise independent judgment in
the performance of assigned tasks such as receiving and disbursing
funds, processing receipts, account adjustments, reviewing and
processing refunds, maintaining records, and balancing daily
register.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Provide
exceptional quality customer service; assist customers by
answering inquiries both in person and on the phone and
providing information and guidance as necessary
- Initiate
processing of complex cashiering transactions; receive and
process cash, check, and/or credit/debit card payments for a
variety of charges
- Maintain
customer accounts and records: authorize and enter fiscal
transactions; prepare fiscal statements and reports
- Prepare,
audit, verify and process final documents such as receipts, bank
deposits, change requests and student account maintenance
- Responsible
for funds deposited with the institution
- Verify and
disburse petty cash funds
- Maintain and
reconcile registers, petty cash accounts and main vault to
insure accountability of all funds
- Maintain
and/or enforce security procedures to ensure safety of college
funds
- Review and
verify fiscal reports for accuracy; investigate and correct
errors to insure compliance with established procedures and
policies
- Work closely
with other departments to provide assistance and guidelines for
proper cash handling
- May assist
with collection of college bad debts
- Provide
fiscal support as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must have the ability to sit for
prolonged period of time at a desk/computer workstation.

Frequent repetitive arm, hand,
and finger motions.

Frequent use of computer and
exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments.

Work in a semi-open office
setting with frequent interruptions.

Be available for non-scheduled
after hours.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High school diploma, or GED
certificate AND fifteen quarter hours or ten semester
hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping AND two
years of full-time experience as a Fiscal Technician, or
equivalent, including experience using accounting-related
software; An Associate of Arts Degree, or equivalent, in
accounting or business may substitute for one year of required
experience
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This
is a 5 month, temporary hourly position.
The position is 40-hours per week,
overtime-eligible position.
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, however
occasional evening
and weekend work may be required. Some travel may be
required to branch campus locations. This position
has an end date of August 31, 2010.
Appointment to the position includes participation in a Washington State
Department of Retirement Systems plan.
