Notice from the Vice President -
Sad News
It is my sad duty to inform you that
two of our dear Chinese students were
involved in a tragic automobile accident
on February 2, 2011.
The driver lost
control of the vehicle, and it hit a
power pole. Unfortunately, the passenger
died at the scene, and the driver was
hospitalized with serious injuries.
He is expected to physically recover
well. The families were notified and
have come to the US to attend the necessary
details, with our help. We have supported
the parents, the students and each other
in this difficult time. The college
president and Board of Trustees have
actively supported the family and students
as well. In respect for the privacy
of the families, we will not disclose
further details.
The only slight silver
lining in this tragedy is the fact that
the safety record of our international
students has been very high, and that
the vast majority of them will continue
on their path to transfer to top universities
all over the US. Thank you for your
good thoughts to our students, and to
us, in this very sad event.
