River’s international reputation as
a leader among community colleges,”
says Green River Community College President
Rich Rutkowski, one of the longest serving
community college presidents in the
United States. President Rutkowski has
worked at Green River for 35 years,
serving 26 of those years as president.
Green River ranks 14th among all
community colleges in the United States
based on international enrollment (Institute
of International Education Open Doors
report 2008). Green River currently
has just over 1000 international students
from over 40 countries.
“International Programs plays a vital
role at Green River in creating an international
campus climate and supporting our commitment
to excellence and innovation,” President
Rutkowski says. International students
help to foster cultural understanding
and exchange as well as contribute to
the campus through their involvement
in class, student government, activities,
and community service projects.
The outstanding academic achievement
of our international students and their
transfer record to top US universities
including University of Washington,
UC Berkeley, UCLA, Cornell, and
many
more demonstrates that students from
everywhere can go anywhere from Green
