By Charlotte West
To better meet the
needs of our growing international student
population, International Programs
has recently added three new members
to the advising team: Robyn Carter,
Helen Kwon, and Tara Lunde.
Robyn earned her
BA in Communications and Media Management
with minors in Political Science and
Spanish from San Diego State University
and is currently completing her MA in
International Education at the School
for International Training in Vermont.
After earning her undergraduate degree,
she spent a year in Spain as a language
instructor and then four years as a
Peace Corps Community Development Coordinator/English
Teacher in Chad and Benin. "I'm very
excited to be here, working in such
a friendly, supportive environment with
such inspirational students," Robyn
says.
Tara obtained a BA in International
Political Economy and a minor in Spanish
at University of Puget Sound and an
MA in Student Development Administration
at Seattle University. She studied abroad
in Argentina as an undergraduate. She
has previously worked with Semester
at Sea and spent seven years as the
Assistant Director of Annual Giving
at Seattle University. "I have worked
in various areas of higher education
for several years now because I'm passionate
about helping students achieve, learn
and grow through their college experience,"
Tara says.
Helen attended Wellesley College
where she majored in Urban Studies and
Education, later completing a Master's
degree in Education at Harvard University.
She spent a semester of her junior year
of college studying abroad in Seoul,
South Korea. "I am looking forward to
getting to know our students and supporting
them to achieve their academic goals
here at Green River," Helen says.
