Nhat Thi Duy
Nguyen came to Green River from Vietnam winter quarter 2006.
She began her studies in IESL (Intensive English as a Second
Language) level 4 and two years later was accepted into UC Berkeley as Chemical Engineering Major.According to Nhat, "IESL prepared me
really well for the future. I was able to observe academic
classes and ask questions." This enabled Nhat to make an
informed decision about her major.
Nhat's initial intention was to study business
because that is what her parents wanted. However, she was so
impressed by the science faculty and their passion for teaching that
she decided to pursue Chemical Engineering. "My childhood dream was
to invent a perfume," said Nhat.
Nhat was involved in many campus activities. She
was the President of the Vietnamese Club, she participated in
science clubs, she worked in the International Programs office, and
she lived in Campus Corner Apartments.
Nhat was also accepted in to Colombia University,
UC Davis, UC San Diego, and the University of Colorado. Nhat
will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall of 2008.
