GRCC Offers Students New Housing Opportunity

March 17, 2009

Dear Future Student,

We at International Programs Housing Office are very excited to offer you a new housing opportunity.  We also want to be accommodating to your needs and many have expressed a desire for a less expensive option.

Therefore, during winter quarter we are offering a semi-private room in homestay. This is a pilot program (test program), so there are only a limited number of spaces. Those participating will play an important role in shaping the future of our housing program.

The semi-private room in homestay offers the same advantages of a regular homestay placement, except you will share a room. Each student will have their own bed and clothing storage. Females will be placed with females and males will be places with males. The cost for the semi-private room is $450 per month. Students choosing this option must commit to a 3-month stay.

This program is limited to the first 40 applicants. In order to take advantage of this new opportunity, we must receive the attached supplemental housing application no later than November 15, 2006.

In recognition of our partners’ need for staff to be responsive and timely
, we are excited to announce 3 new part-time housing staff positions.

Terri Jensen has been a coordinator for awhile and her primary responsibilities lie with Campus Corner Apartments. She coordinates move-in day and makes sure all your students have the help they need, from move-in kits to signing contracts.

Sarah Jensen is the most recent addition to the staff, and she is the smiling staff person greeting them at the airport on move-in day. She coordinates the airport greeters and host families as well as welcomes your students.

Housing Help Desk: We will be adding the third position soon. This person will staff a ‘housing help desk’ during our peak times of move-in/out.

Thank you for your continued partnership and please keep suggestions coming on how we can improve to best serve your needs.
