AAA Program-Level Outcome 21

Accounting

1

Gain an understanding of the purpose and nature of accounting; to achieve an understanding of the measurement of business income and financial position of a business; to understand and be able to prepare journal entries and financial statements for service firms.

Further one's knowledge of the procedures and nature of accounting, including the complete accounting cycle for merchandising businesses, and to secure knowledge in the theoretical and practical application of special journals, combined journal, receivables, payables, bad debts, interest, and recording and discounting of notes.

Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to perform the basic setup and maintenance of broadcast captioner’s captioning equipment.

Demonstrate knowledge of and be able to pass written exams in history, culture, terminology, broadcast news production, prescripting, psychology of on-air captions, FCC regulations, and deaf culture.

Prepare a captioned translation of one hour of captioning services for course evaluation taken from the internship experience.

Submit a narrative report summarizing the internship experience including such things as a diary, new terminology encountered, new experiences, and activities/processes observed.

 


AAA Program-Level Outcome 32

Computer Reporting Technologies – Court Reporting

1

Write a real-time translation theory system.

Demonstrate fluent reading of shorthand notes, quickly locating portions to be read, maintaining composure while reading, reading distinctly and with authority.

Pass at least three 5-minute literary tests at 180 wpm with 96% accuracy or higher

Pass at least three 5-minute jury charge tests at 200 wpm with 96% accuracy or higher

Pass four 5-minute testimony tests at 225 wpm, two with 95% accuracy or higher and two with 96% accuracy or higher.

Complete 60 hours of internship, of which 50 hours is actual steno writing time.

Produce 40-page salable transcript of freelance or official internship using computer-aided transcription system applying the rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.

Pass at least two 5-minute timed keyboarding tests with a minimum of 60 gross wpm and a maximum of 5 errors.
