During
spring quarter 2003, Vivette Beuster (Intensive English as
Second Language Instructor) and Fia Eliasson
(Institutional Research Specialist) conducted a
campus-wide research project. Jeff Clausen contributed at
various important stages, as did members of the Learning
Outcomes Committee. Partial funding was obtained from a
Faculty Excellence Grant.
The purpose of the study was
to determine whether teachers and students have different
expectations of the learning environment at Green River
Community College. Analyses revealed statistically
significant differences between the expectations of
teachers, American, and foreign students. The findings
have important implications for teaching, learning, and
assessment.
