Definition:
Wellness encompasses
the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behaviors
necessary for a student to maintain physical,
emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual
health.

of Wellness:
This outcome includes abilities
designed to help students
-
Explore an aspect
of wellness (physical, emotional, social,
intellectual, or spiritual) and the impact
of lifestyle choices on that aspect of wellness
based on current scientific research.

Explore
various proactive behaviors or procedures
that enhance health and/or personal safety.
Explore lifestyle
choices and behaviors and their impact on
the disease process.
Explain the
health risks associated with high-risk social
behaviors including substance abuse, sexual
irresponsibility, disordered eating patterns,
and abusive relationships.
Design and implement
wellness plans consistent with individual
needs and goals. Wellness plans include
behaviors that improve physical, emotional,
social, intellectual, and/or spiritual health.
Actively participate in an organized recreational or leisure-time activity that develops or maintains physical fitness or physical skill.
Actively
participate in an organized program
focusing on stress management, time
management, improved nutrition,
relaxation, social interaction,
intellectual stimulation, and/or
advocacy.
Actively participate in an organized aerobic or resistance training program.
Evaluate personal health status, fitness level, or physical skill development.
