Existing Conditions Facility Condition Surveys Overview The majority of buildings on the main campus were constructed between 1965 and 1977. What follows is a list of our buildings and the year in which they were constructed. Many of these buildings have major deficiencies and need to be replaced rather than renovated.
Site Plan #1 The largest and oldest of these buildings and complexes are now targets for replacement or renovation. The new Science Center, currently under construction, will replace the ST, A-D, and OEB. The college has been approved for pre-design funds for the 05-07 biennium, with which we will begin the replacement of the HS/SS/BI complex. We also received approval for funds with which to move forward with renovation of the Physical Education building. Of particular concern are the Trades & Industry building and the Lindbloom Student Center. These two buildings have major deficiencies, which require so much repair work that college needs would be better served through their destruction and replacement. However, it appears that the Science, Math & Technology building, built just a decade after these, can be retained through renovation. SBCTC Facilities Condition Survey In 1989, the SBCTC established a survey process for all state-owned community and technical college facilities at 34 campuses. The intent of the survey is to provide a determination of the physical condition of community and technical college facilities and to identify capital repair project candidates for funding consideration by applying a uniform process system-wide. The first year, the process included a detailed baseline condition survey conducted at each college. Less detailed surveys were conducted in 1991 and 1993. In 1995, a second baseline condition survey was conducted. Survey updates were then conducted in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005. Excerpt from the 2005 SBCTC may be viewed below: |
