Whether you're interested in becoming a flight attendant, servicing aircraft, or working in other areas in the airline industry, Green River's Air Transportation program offers training that can open up job opportunities for you.

The Air Transportation program at Green River offers students a strong business and human relations background. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in ramp service, customer service, reservations, flight attendant service, aircraft servicing, airport maintenance, and airport management careers.

Green River also offers an Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate that will prepare students with no background in aviation for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher practical examination. This examination must be taken within 90 days of graduation.

As an Air Transportation graduate, you can work for:

  • air freight forwarders

  • airlines

  • airports

  • customs brokerage firms

  • flight schools

Air Transportation graduates find work in:

  • air cargo

  • airport management

  • airport operations

  • customer service

  • flight school management

  • reservations

When can new students enroll?
Students may enroll in the Air Transportation program at the beginning of any quarter.

Prerequisites
High school completion or GED certificate is required for acceptance into the program.

Complete an application to Green River Community College, complete the COMPASS assessment, and meet with an advisor.

How long does the program take?
If you attend Green River full time, the degree requirements can be completed in six quarters. If you attend part time, completion will depend on how many credits you earn each quarter.

Personal requirements for success
The successful air transportation employee has a mature attitude and possesses a genuine desire to provide service to customers.

Does the program transfer to four-year schools?
Transferability of courses to other four-year institutions is at the discretion of the accepting institution. Students should contact an advisor at the college to which they intend to transfer.

Special program notes
The location of Green River Community College is convenient to a large international airport with access to more than 50 airlines.

Employment outlook
Job placement for graduates is about 80%, based on a survey of Green River's Air Transportation graduates.

Salary range
The starting salary for Air Transportation graduates is approximately $30,000, which often increases to $40,000 by the third year of employment.
