Manufacturing Technology
Associate in Applied Arts Degree
Certificate
Prepare for immediate employment in the fast-growing field of machine
technology. Our program offers hands-on instruction in machining, welding,
and reading blueprints. You will also gain leadership skills for future
advancement.
Machinists are highly skilled operators of machine tools that are used to
make metal or non-metallic parts. Working from blueprints or sketches, a
machinist will make or repair parts for a wide variety of tools or
machines. Duties include selecting the correct cutting tools; calculating
speeds, feeds, dimensions and other measurements; reading precision
measuring tools; and setting up and operating various machine tools.
As a graduate of the Machine Technology
program, you will be able to perform simple layout, plan a sequence of
operations, and set up and operate the common machine tools with a minimum
of supervision. More advanced students will have proficiencies in the
areas of CNC programming and machine operation.
Green River Community College offers a
two-year Associate in Applied Science degree as well as a certificate that
can be completed in one year. Both are designed to prepare students for
immediate employment in the metal working industry.
