Manufacturing Technology-CIM
Associate in Applied Science Degree
The Manufacturing Technology-CIM (computer integrated manufacturing)
program at Green River includes courses designed to combine the study of
design with the skills of manufacturing.
In this program, you will develop proficiency
in drafting, machining, precision measuring, Computer Numerical Controlled
(CNC) machining, and machine tooling. You’ll also become familiar with the
drafting and design standards of the American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) and the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as you
prepare drawings for manufacturing and fabrication.
As a Manufacturing Technician, you can work
for:
|
design companies |
engineering firms |
|
government
agencies |
graphics companies |
|
machine shops |
manufacturing companies |
|
marine
industries |
metal fabrication plants |
|
nuclear
industries |
petroleum industries |
The program covers preparation of 2D and 3D
drawings using Auto CAD, Cadkey, and Mastercam applications. It also
prepares you to perform simple layout, plan a sequence of operations, and
set up and operate the common machine tools with a minimum of supervision.
At completion of the program, you will have proficiencies in the areas of
CNC, programming, and machine operation.
Throughout this course of study, you will do
assignments using sketches, notes, technical literature, and personal
research. Manufacturing Technology-CIM students may take related credits
in the trade areas of building, manufacturing, engineering, welding, and
surveying.
When can new students enroll?
Students may enter the Manufacturing Technology-CIM program at the
beginning of any quarter. You will need to meet with a program advisor for
the proper course sequence and scheduling details.

How long does the program take?
It depends on you. If you attend Green River full time, you may be able to
complete the Associate in Applied Science degree requirements in six
quarters. If you attend part time, completion will depend on how many
credits you earn each quarter.
