Mechanical Design Technology
Associate in Applied Science Degree
Assisting mechanical, manufacturing, and tooling engineers in industry
requires a broad technological background. In this degree program,
students develop proficiency in mechanical and design drafting and learn
to prepare drawings for manufacturing and fabrication.
As a Mechanical Design Technician, you can
work for:
-
design and aircraft companies
-
engineering firms
-
government agencies
-
machine shops
-
manufacturing and graphics companies
-
nuclear and marine industries
Students become familiar with the drafting and
design standards for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and
the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as they prepare 2D
and 3D drawings using Mechanical Desktop, Auto CAD, Cadkey, and Mastercam
applications. Throughout this course of study, they complete assignments
using sketches, notes, technical literature, and personal research. The
curriculum includes related credits in the areas of manufacturing and
engineering.
When can new students enroll?
Students may enter the Mechanical Design Technology program at the
beginning of any quarter.
Prerequisites
