Welcome to TRiO Student Support Services. We want you to succeed and get the most out of your education!

TRiO Mission Statement:  The mission of TRiO Student Support Services is to increase opportunities for academic success for first-generation and/or low-income students and students with disabilities.  Our program does this by actively providing comprehensive academic support services and encouragement to our participants.  Our overarching goal is to increase graduation and baccalaureate transfer rates for our students and to foster a climate supportive of the success of SSS-eligible students.

What is TRiO Student Support Services?
TRiO is a team of professional staff and student tutors who provide one-on-one academic support to First-Generation students, economically disadvantaged students, and students with disabilities. TRiO Student Support Services is one of more than 900 similar programs nationwide. Our purpose is to teach students how to navigate the college system, identify their educational goals and achieve academic success.

How can TRiO support my educational journey?
If you are a student who has been away from school for some time, feels unprepared for what is expected in college, or if you're wondering if you can succeed, TRiO may be the right place for you. TRiO staff understands your concerns and our office is a place where someone will listen and provide assistance.

Here are some of the services available to you through TRiO. There is no charge for TRiO services.

  • Individual academic planning

  • Transfer advising

  • Study skills workshops

  • One-to-one and small group peer tutoring

  • Career advising and assessment

  • Financial Education

  • Financial Aid/scholarship application assistance

  • Cultural events and social activities

  • 4-year college visits

  • Referrals to college and community resources

  • Encouragement, mentoring, and coaching

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, our TRiO program works with only 200 students at one time. Working with a smaller population of students is what sets us apart from other resources on campus. Having more one-on-one time with students allows us to get to know you better and provide personalized advising. As a result, you will become part of a network of individualized and intensive services designed to enhance your academic and personal development. We also provide opportunities for campus community involvement, workshop participation, and cultural events.
