Resources to help you pay for college The first step in securing assistance in paying for college is to complete the FAFSA. Completing it online speeds up the process and provides you an opportunity to make any necessary changes quickly. Remember, each college and university may have different priority dates by which they expect to receive your FAFSA information. It is important to check with each school to make sure you are meeting all their deadlines. Scholarships You should also apply for any applicable scholarships directly from the school you hope to attend. If you will be enrolled at Green River for the 2007-08 academic year, you can apply for Green River Community College Foundation Scholarships. If you are transferring with junior standing to a school in Washington you should also apply for the Educational Opportunity Grant through the Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board. You can also apply for individual scholarships offered through private companies, foundations, and individual donors. Green River's Financial Aid Office maintains a listing of scholarship links and resources to help make your search easier. TRIO offers workshops throughout the year to help you with your scholarship search. Come see us to find out about upcoming workshops or to schedule an individual appointment with your TRIO advisor. |
