Workshop
Description
Every water system is vulnerable
to backflow from cross connections. This course takes you beyond the basics
and strengthens your risk assessment capability. You will practice in-depth
risk analysis of facilities with low, high and severe cross-connection
health hazards including those in Table 9. You will learn how to prioritize
inspections for new and existing facilities based on types of contaminants,
health hazards, hydraulic conditions, probability of backflow occurring, and
level of acceptable risk as well as gain a clear understanding of how to
justify requirements for backflow protection appropriate for assessed risk
without having to rely on an unsubstantiated "one-size-fits-all" approach.
Participants will learn:
Handle those
tough cross connection control problems.
Improve customer
relations.
Avoid
disputes over requiring unnecessary service protection.
Choose the
right protection through effective risk assessment.
Defend
decisions about requiring backflow protection.
