The Lindbloom Student Center (LSC) provides Student Affairs, Instructional, and Student Life support to Green River Community College students. However, the 36 year-old facility is structurally unsound, poorly configured to meet growing program needs, and unable to provide student services support beyond the minimal customer service standards.
For two decades the college has invested a disproportionate amount of resources into the failing LSC through numerous remodels, renovations, maintenance and repairs. Major structural defects have been identified, most notably inadequate seismic resistance. The building is at risk of major damage or collapse in the event of an earthquake, and does not meet life safety, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access, energy, and building code requirements.
The inability of the LSC to support Student Life activities resulted in a vote by the student body in May 2007 for a self-imposed fee to replace the Student Life portion of the facility in 2013.
This 61,000 square foot Student life replacement project will include the bookstore, food service operations, meeting rooms and staff spaces for student government, intramurals, recreation, conference services and athletics. New space will include a fitness center. The new facility will be located on the site of the old Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business and Industry complex which will be removed after Cedar Hall is opened. It will be designed and constructed to achieve a LEED Silver Rating. The design team includes student representatives along with building stakeholders.

The Student Life design team comprised of student leaders, college staff, and design consultants continue their efforts to create a design for the new facility. Team members have been meeting with consultants specializing in bookstore, food service, fitness center, and theater designs to create exciting and innovative spaces.
Construction is still on schedule to commence fall 2013 on the HS/SS/BI site.
Construction is scheduled to be completed early summer 2015 and the new building fully operational fall quarter, 2015.

The Lindbloom Student Center (LSC) currently houses Student Life, Student Services, and Instructional programs. The 41 year-old building is beyond life cycle, overcrowded, and poorly configured to meet growing program needs.
The state does not provide funding for Student Life facilities so in May, 2007 the students voted to approve a self-imposed fee to pay for a new Student Life building.
A design team comprised of student leaders, college staff, and design consultants are in the process of creating a design for the new facility.
Construction will begin in fall 2013 on the HS/SS/BI site after Cedar Hall programs currently housed in the HS complex, move back to their newly renovated facility.
Construction is scheduled to be completed late spring 2015 and the new building fully operational fall quarter, 2015.
