Green River: a leader in nationwide US university transfer
Representatives of 105 universities and colleges from throughout the US gathered on Green River's main campus Oct. 31 to provide resources to students interested in transferring to a four-year university. Over 500 students visited the fair and spoke with outreach staff from universities including Arizona State University, University of Washington, Rutgers and University of California-Berkeley.
All students, from Intensive English to academic students, were encouraged to attend the fair. The event, put on twice a year, is designed to provide students an opportunity to speak with university representatives about the transfer process. The fair serves as a reminder to students about the importance of working hard in school. It also helps the college build relationships with universities so it can continue to provide top transfer opportunities for students.
Students were invited to participate in transfer workshops hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the University of Oregon, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, the University of Nevada Las Vegas as well as the Universities of California at Berkeley, San Diego, Riverside, Irvine and Santa Barbara. The next transfer fair will be held in January.
