Gator Sports Update - October 25

Men's Golf Wins Inaugural Swanson Cup

Sunday the Green River golf team traveled to Shelton, WA to play in the first ever Swanson Cup Tournament hosted by Grays Harbor College. The Gator men took the team title at the challenging Salish Cliffs golf course when freshman D.J. Vallala birdied the par 5, 18th hole to give Green River a one shot advantage over Olympic College.  Gators Broc Johnson and Austin Geiger both tied for second place overall with a four over par 76. Madeline Ottosson tied for first place in the women's tournament with an 87, but lost the title in the first hole playoff. The Swanson Cup is named after one of the best female golfers in Washington State history, Ann Swanson.

Green River Volleyball Team Tied for First Place

Green River Volleyball (7-1, 21-7) kept their championship hopes alive with two more victories this week against Tacoma and Centralia College. Captain Erin Fischer led the team with 31 kills in the two matches and freshman setter Charisma Toilolo has taken control of the setter positions with 61 assists. Green River moved into a tie for first place in the West, when Tacoma defeated Highline College in five sets. Now both Green River and Highline sit with one loss in the West Region. The two teams are prepared to square off Monday night at Highline with title hopes on the line. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Leituala Named NWAACC Volleyball Player of the Week
