Golfer Broc Johnson is tied for first place
In the men's golf championship, tournament host Walla Walla County College holds a slim one-stroke lead over Southwest Oregon County College with a score of 291. Green River follows in third place with 298.
2012 champion Broc Johnson of Green River and Walla Walla's Andrew Grove are tied at 71, and hold a one-stroke lead over Southwest Oregon teammates Andy Clayton and Cole Chavez, both at 72. Grove is the surprise of the men's tournament so far - he came into the event as the number six golfer in the Warrior's rotation.
On the women's golf team, defending Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges champion Bellevue College (245) has a four-stroke lead over Green River (249) and a comfortable 12-stroke lead over third place Walla Walla.
Madeleine Ottosson leads Green River in the NWAACC women's golf championship
Green River's Madeleine Ottosson leads Bellevue's Anusuriya Suchada 76 to 77 with Green River teammate Britney Thurber holding third with a score of 79. Ottosson finished fifth at last year's championship event.
The championship event will wrap up Monday, May 20 at Walla Walla Country Club. Opening tee is on hole one at 7:30 a.m.
