Faculty granted tenure

Green River congratulates six college faculty members who were granted tenure by the Board of Trustees at their March 20 meeting. Obtaining tenure is a three-year process of observation, evaluation and mentoring.
Their names are as follows:
-Jody Segal, Library
-Joy Crawford, Psychology
-Susan Baker, Nursing
-Adrienne Battle, Physics
-Edwin Vesser, Welding
-Ken Hang, Information Technology
Prior to her Master's in Library & Information Science, Jody Segal worked on degrees in English and History. She has taught classes and work as a librarian at Seattle Central and Edmonds Community Colleges and the University of Washington, where she earned her B.A., M.A., and M.L.I.S degrees.
Joy Crawford previously taught at Green River as an adjunct instructor, and she also taught at Seattle Central Community College and the University of Washington. She has professional experience as a case aide for Children and Family Services (DSHS), and has a B.A. from Whitworth College and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Washington.
Susan Baker has her Registered Nurse License, a B.S.N. from the University of Washington, and an M.S. from Grand Canyon University. Her master's program focused on using patient simulation in nursing education. She also has professional experience as the director of a medical/surgical unit in an acute care facility.
Adrienne Battle taught at Green River as an adjunct before completing her Ph.D. She took a full-time position at Seminole Community College in Florida, and taught there for four years before returning to Green River. Adrienne has a B.A. from California Polytechnic State University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
Edwin Vesser, a Certified Welder and Journeyman Apprentice, has many years of professional experience as a lead welder/foreman and business owner. His experience includes structural fabrication, heavy equipment repairs and fabrication of custom attachments, architectural metals, welding dies and tooling, and truck and trailer equipment repairs.
Ken Hang has a B.S. from the University of Virginia and his M.S.E. from the University of Maryland. He came from industry as a software systems engineer working on flight simulation and training systems with a focus on students and e-learning. Ken's approach to designing systems is cross-disciplinary, integrating elements from science, engineering, design arts, behavioral sciences and business.
