Kent Rotary supports Green River vets, again!
Timm Lovitt accepts a check for Green River vets at the Kent Rotary club meeting.
The Kent Rotary Club presented a check in the amount of $5,553.78 to Timm Lovitt, director of Campus Veterans Resources at its Jan. 7 meeting. The donation is to support Green River veterans programs, which assists returning veterans who are pursuing their education and new career paths.
This contribution was in addition to the extremely generous gift of $43,000 that the Rotary gave Green River last April, when they named Green River’s VET Fund as its funded item at the 2013 Escapades Auction.
Through these two gifts–which relate directly to two of the Rotary’s five avenues of service, community and vocational– Kent Rotary has demonstrated its commitment to returning veterans.
“When organizations like Rotary respond to the needs of our veterans, and support their transition back into our communities, the impact far transcends the dollar amount that is given," said Lovitt as he accepted the oversized check. "You are showing these men and women that their communities care about them and their success.”
The donation will be used to help support veterans while complete their program of study and find meaningful employment.
