Green River is committed to assuring student safety during any emergent health crisis

Green River Communiy College has established a plan for emergent health incidents. This plan includes working closely with emergency managers and local public health agencies in order to ensure safety an access to accurate information.

For information on current health concerns in Washington State please refer to the Washington State Department of Health. State information along with more localized health department information can be found at the King County Health Department.

Information on how to stay healthy

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds /If you can't wash your hands use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover sneezes and coughs, get in the habit of using your elbow instead of your hand.
  • Avoid getting close to people who are sick. For example be cautious about hand shaking during cold and flu season.
  • Keep your surroundings clean. Sanitize areas of high use such as door knobs, light switches, and desk items that might be shared such as keyboards.
  • Get adequate sleep- For adults its recommended to get 7-9 hours.
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
  • Exercise regularly -it's great to breath in some fresh air. Go for a quick 10 minute walk.
  • Get a Flu shot -immunize especially if you live and work around a variety of people.
