Maintenance Mechatronics (MTX)
Degrees & Certificates:
For course descriptions, please see the college catalog.
MTX students learn how to operate, maintain and repair modern industrial machinery. Green Rivers Maintenance Mechatronics Program is a hands-on, student-centered program. Students can choose their own path to success in multiple industries. We offer two stackable certificates in Machine Maintenance Proficiency. Certificate coursework can be applied towards the Maintenance Mechatronics Associate in Applied Science Degree.
MTX is a new profession emerging to support industry needs because advanced machinery and automated systems are playing increasing roles.
Mechatronics is the study of the different types of energies that are used in machines. These energies are mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic. Our curriculum is focused on how computers are utilized to control advanced automated machine systems.
Course topics include:
- Risk Analysis
- Hydraulic Energy
- Mechanical Energy
- Pneumatic Energy
- Electrical Energy
- Common Maintenance Practices
- Systematic Diagnostic Methods
Each energy topic is presented in the following format:
- Maps (Blueprints, schematics, etc.)
Aerospace is the primary target industry for our students. However, Aerospace has aspects of many different industries and our training opens doors across a wide spectrum of businesses. Equipment manufacturing, food processing, chemical processing, maritime occupations and construction are just a few of the potential employers for MTX graduates.
- Equipment manufacturing
- Food processing
- Chemical processing
- Maritime occupations
The median wage for qualified MTX technicians is over $50,000 annually. As it is such a new profession there is no actual wage data, but estimates can be made at 55 to 60 thousand. Very few people realize that maintenance repair people are always the highest paid factory workers in all industries, and Green River’s MTX program will prepare students to enter near the top of that profession.
|Occupation||Est. Employment||Avg. Wage||Annual Wage|
|Electrical/Electronics Repairers, Industrial Equipment||1,589||$32.97||$68,570|
|Maintenance and Repair Workers, General||25,751||$20.19||$42,007|
|Maintenance Wkrs, Machinery||1,484||$22.49||$46,776|
