High-demand jobs, excellent pay, and exciting opportunities
- Marketing positions in King County requiring a Bachelors degree are in high demand and pay an average of $85,000 per year and up. Marketing positions requiring a bachelors degree are high-growth and high-demand nationwide. (see: US Deptartment of Labor for Marketing Managers and Analysts, ONET Online Report for Market Research Analysts and Marketing Specialists.
- 49% of senior hiring managers reported difficulty finding qualified candidates for marketing-related positions when surveyed. The Workforce Development Council of King County Pipeline study showed an annual shortage of 377 candidates for Market Research Analyst positions requiring a Bachelors degrees (page 43, occupation 36).
- Entrepreneurs are needed and the start-up culture is highly valued in our economy. As a BAS student you will have the opportunity to build a launch-ready business and present your idea to business leaders and investors. Convenient class times at a convenient location
Core courses are offered mainly in hybrid format (combination of on-line and in-class), with evening class sessions at Green River’s Kent Campus.
Our Program Manager, Program Director, and Small Business Development Center are all housed at the Kent Campus to provide a seamless experience for our programs students.
A few of your non-core classes might be offered at the Auburn campus or on-line, but with careful planning you could take all of your courses at the Kent Campus.

Meet the Team
Program Director and Faculty
Tim Broxholm’s mission is simple: to educate, engage, and inspire students to attain academic, personal, and professional excellence. As a former HR Director and current executive coach, facilitator, and business strategy consultant Tim utilizes his expertise and his network to help students develop the necessary competencies and connections to excel in their career. He also provides students with one-on-one career and professional development coaching to ensure students are well prepared to attain their career goals upon completing the program. In addition to his work at Green River, Tim is also the Vice President of Client Solutions and Lead Practitioner for Fired-Up! Culture, a Puyallup based coaching and consulting firm. Tim is also a contributor and consultant for several of the nation’s top textbook publishers.

Tim holds a Masters of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Seattle Pacific University and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from The University of Portland. He is currently working on an executive certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Stanford University.
Jeff Perlot has taught business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship courses at Green River for nearly 10 years. During that time, he also spent 4 years as a counselor for Green River’s Small Business Development Center. Outside of Green River, Jeff’s recent work includes authoring a digital-only Introduction to Business product for a major publisher and development of a sports nutrition product that is routinely among the bestsellers on Amazon.com.
Jeff’s main areas of interest are:
- Product development
- Digital marketing
- Content and UX development
- Instructional design for online/hybrid learning
When Jeff is not working, he can be found hanging out with his family, hiking, doing high-intensity interval training, and getting mocked for his ridiculously clean diet.
R. J. Amador
Faculty -starting fall 2015
R. J. Amador is a California native, social entrepreneur and an environmental policy specialist. Ask him about recycled glue! He brings experience transforming sustainable business models from theory to practice. As a serving member of the US Navy Reserves, he leads diverse, technically specialized teams to exceed requirements.
When he's not experiencing Washington's great outdoors or any sort of fitness activity, R. J. is volunteering for the blind, reading, recording, and producing podcasts of National Geographic and Popular Science magazines for download through the Audio Internet Reading Service of Los Angeles (AIRS-LA) as he has done for years.
R. J. holds a bachelor's degree in international studies with specialization in Latin America, and a minor in business management from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master of Applied Economics from the University of Cambridge. He is very excited to work with and for the students at Green River!
David Syverson is a project management professional with over 30 years of experience. He has worked in military and corporate environments within Operations and Logistics in the US Army and Port and Terminal Management and Security. His teaching experience includes course topics related to international business, supply chain, logistics, business management, project management and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
David has a passion for project management, but relax he will not try to cram years of practical experience into a few weeks. In his Project Management course you will learn the fundamental processes as they relate to business management. You will learn how to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control quality and risks, and finally how to properly close a project.
David's main areas of interest are:

David holds a Master of Business Administration in international business from American InterContinental University and a bachelor of science in computer programming and accounting from Griffin College.
Kelly is thrilled to be joining the Green River College team teaching the Integrated Marketing Communications course. A Northwest native, Kelly graduated from Washington State University in public relations and University of Portland with a master's in management communications. Kelly has blended her passion for storytelling, being outside and great gear into her REI workday for the past ten years.

Kelly's professional background includes social media campaign strategy, crisis communications, campaign strategy, branding strategy, product marketing, event planning, community outreach, non-profit communications and direct mail. She volunteers as a consultant for non-profits focused on meeting the needs of low-income individuals and families. A lover of vintage fashion, the arts and the outdoors; Kelly trades her 1950s heels for hiking boots on the weekends to volunteer for the National Park Service.
BAS Program Manager
Jessica Nestander is a student-centered and data informed higher education professional. Jessica left her career as a lawyer three years ago because she missed working with college students. She enjoys helping students achieve their goals of college and career success. As the Program Manager, Jessica partners with all campus services to provide a “one-stop-shop” for the students in the BAS in Marketing & Entrepreneurship program. She also actively works with community and area businesses on building partnerships with the BAS program.
When not on campus, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking, knitting, cross-fitting, dreaming up new ideas, taking public transportation, and splurging on the occasional Netflix binge.
