Admission to the college is open to anyone who has a high school diploma, earned a GED, or is at least 18 years old by the first day of the quarter they are planning to attend. Please note, if 16 or 17 years of age, student must submit a high school release form or a Running Start authorization form from the school district they live in, along with the application for admission.

Green River welcomes people of all income levels, backgrounds and previous educational experience. 

Veterans and/or dependents may qualify for educational benefits.  For additional information email our Veterans Office or visit the Veterans Services web site.

Applications are accepted beginning:

New Students
The first step for a new student is to apply for admission. Students can apply:

• On-line at the Web Admissions Center

• In person, stop by Enrollment Services

• By mail, call (253) 833-9111, ext. 2500 to request an application

Once a student has applied for admission and the application has been processed, the student will be mailed an acceptance packet within 2-4 business days. The packet will include their student identification number and a check list guiding them through the process, the check list is also available online. The check list includes information on assessment, advising, registration, and more.

Returning Students - not currently enrolled
Returning students, who have not attended Green River for at least one quarter, need to re-apply for admission to have their records updated and a registration appointment assigned. Students can re-apply:

• On-line at the Web Admissions Center

• By calling Enrollment Services at (253) 833-9111, ext. 2500

• In person, stop by Enrollment Services

• By mail, call (253) 833-9111, ext. 2500 to request an application

Once the application has been processed, the student will be assigned a registration appointment determined by the number of credits earned at Green River and any transfer credits from other institutions that have been evaluated by Green River.
