Volleyball

Introduction

Green River volleyball has long held a strong tradition of excellence in the South Sound region since the program's inception in 1978.

Green River volleyball teams have competed in the NW Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) Championships 28 of the 35 years they have been a part of the association. Green River has won the NWAACC Western Region title fourteen times including a share of the 2012 title. They have recently placed third in the 2005 NWAACC tournament and fifth in the 2006 event.  The Gators won the NWAACC Championship in 1984.

Gator volleyball is proud of its reputation for developing student athletes who are committed to achieving their academic, athletic and personal goals.  Many athletes have moved on to play at the university level including Central Washington, Pacific Lutheran, Linfield, Montana Western, Warner Pacific, and Missouri Valley.  2012 graduate, Katelyn Nugent signed an NCAA Division I letter of intent with Manhattan College in Manhattan, N.Y.

Meet the Coaches

Kyle Densley, Head Coach

Kyle Densley, Head Coach

Coach Densley was welcomed to the Green River athletic department staff in January of 2006. In his first season he led the Gators to an undefeated Western Region title and a fifth place finish at the NWAACC Championships. In 2008 he once again led the team to a Western Region co-championship. He was named NWAACC Western Region Co-Coach of the year in 2008.

Having completed the USAV Coaching Accreditation Program, Coach Densley has a professional network of NCAA Division I and USA Olympic level coaches. His USAV U17 Club team out of Kent, WA has been ranked among the top ten in the Puget Sound Region each of the past four seasons. In the summer of 2007, Densley was invited to participate as a on-court coach for the USAV Junior National team tryouts.

Coach Densley's extensive club experience and regional knowledge of high school and club talent will continue to aid Green River in their attempt to extend their six year string of appearances at the NWAACC Championship tournament. Kyle and his family live in Renton, WA. He is married to his wife Ruth and they have three daughters and 2 sons.

Ashley Parries, Assistant Coach

Coach Parries joined the Gator coaching staff after playing for two seasons for Green River in 2007-09.  She has an honorable mention all-West outside hitter as a Freshman.  She has worked with junior club players for several seasons and plans to continue her education at GRCC and beyond.
