College Life includes education, experience, and practice in healthy behaviors and activities. Green River strives to provide safe and healthy outlets from the intellectual and emotional demands of college life. Some of your daily stressors can be sweat away by lifting weights in the weight room, using cardio machines in the Fitness Center or joining a group fitness class. We also offer a full schedule of Intramural Sports where you can join fellow gators in a friendly challenge.

Intramural & Recreational Sports

Intramural sports are for Green River students, staff and faculty who enjoy competition in a casual and fun atmosphere. Intramural sport teams meet at noon, as well as during various night and weekend hours and include sports such as badminton, basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball, aerobics, dodgeball and more.

Fitness Center & Weight Room

Fitness and Wellness Center (F&WC) usage is free during posted open hours. The center is located next to the Physical Education building. Aerobic equipment includes StairMasters, stepmills, elliptical trainers, treadmills, rowing machines, arch trainers, a cardio wave, and ADA compliant upper-body bicycle, Cybex recumben bicycles and stationary bicycles.

Classes for credit are also offered in the F&WC, weight room and the gymnasium.

The weight room, located in the gymnasium, offers a full array of Nautilus and Cybex equipment and free weights.

Requirements: Students must sign in as they enter the F&WC, wear athletic shoes and attire and use and clean equipment as directed.

Group Fitness Classes

Green River offers free group fitness classes Monday through Thursday.

Green River offers ongoing group fitness classes Monday through Thursday at noon. Classes are taught by Barb Hansen, one of your favorite Green River PE instructors.


Fitness trails

For walking and jogging enthusiasts, Green River maintains a beautiful 1.2 mile trail throughout the campus. A portion of the trail is paved and accessible for wheelchairs.

In addition to the paved trail, there are extensive forest trails stretching down to the river and out to our bordering neighborhoods.  Visit our online trail map.
