Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR)

New students receive their PIN and register for their first quarter classes, on a space available basis, by completing SOAR either online or in-person.

Attention New Students: Summer/Fall Quarter registration begins May 21st. You will be able to log on to online SOAR starting May 7th, or 2 business days after you have received your Green River SID (Student ID number), whichever is later.

A SOAR session covers the following:

The resources available at Green River to support your educational goals
What your COMPASS scores mean
Information about your program of study
How to register for classes (including receiving your PIN number)
What to expect for enrolling in future quarters

To Access an Online SOAR Session

Here's a Tip...

Completing an online SOAR session is a great option if you prefer the convenience of registering from home and are comfortable doing so independently.

NOTE: You can complete online SOAR and receive your PIN number prior to registration starting, however, new students will not be able to register for Summer/Fall Quarter until May 21st.

To Access Online SOAR for Summer/Fall Quarter registration:

Retrieve your GRCC email address and access your account.
Starting May 7th, go to Angel Learning and sign in

Your Angel username will be the first part of your GRCC e-mail address (see the example below). Use your SID as the password to start the process.

Example:

If the GRCC E-mail Address Is: The Angel Username Is:

jstudent5@mail.greenriver.edu jstudent5

Don't know your GRCC e-mail address or SID?

To get your SID go here (You will need your Social Security Number to do this).
To look up your GRCC e-mail address go here (You will need your SID to do this).

If you are having difficulty accessing online SOAR and it has been more than two days since you received your SID number, and it is after the above access date, please contact the Welcome Center via e-mail or call (253) 333-6000.

To Sign Up for an In-Person SOAR Session

Stop and read this first...

If any of the following apply to you, please use the contact information provided for class registration instructions (do not sign up for an in-person SOAR session):

Running Start - if you are a new Running Start student, please submit your verification form and sign up for an orientation at the Welcome Center (253) 333-6000.
Transfer Students - if you have completed credit at another college please contact an advisor in the Welcome Center (253) 333-6000 or beadvised@greenriver.edu
Attend classes at the Kent Campus - if you would like to attend classes at the Kent Campus you can sign up for a SOAR session at that location by calling (253) 833-9111, ext. 5000.
Attend classes for One Quarter - if you will only be attending GRCC for one quarter please contact an advisor in the Welcome Center (253) 333-6000 or beadvised@greenriver.edu
Basic Education - if your COMPASS score placed you into Basic classes please visit the Welcome Center to complete the CASAS test (253) 333-6000.

If the above does not apply to you, then you are ready to sign up for your Summer/Fall Quarter SOAR session.
