Welcome,
You have registered for a GRCC Internet class that uses course
management software from Blackboard (Bb). Please note that not all GRCC
Internet courses use this software. If you arrived at this page from
the Class Schedule then you are registered for a Blackboard course.
All
Green River Blackboard classes open at noon on the first day of the quarter. You
cannot login to Blackboard before noon on the first day of classes.
If you register
for a course after the quarter begins, it may take as long as 48
hours after you register to get you enrolled in Blackboard (not including weekends
and/or holidays). If you can't log in after 48 hours please
e-mail the Office of eLearning. Be sure to include your
name, Student ID, date of birth, and the name of the course(s) for which you are
enrolled. Please be patient and periodically try to login.
To get started with Green River
Blackboard . . . (You may want to print this for easy
reference):
-
Type
the following web address into your browser or click on this link
http://greenriver.blackboard.com The link takes you to
the login screen. Please add this page to your favorites and
note that you can go directly to the Blackboard login page without
going through the Green River website by entering the above address.
Click here for a picture of the Bb login
page. -
You
will see two boxes where you will enter your username and password.
-
Your username is your first initial, full last name, and the last
two digits of your student ID. Type your username in lower
case letters and numbers, with no spaces, and include the hyphen in
hyphenated last names. -
Your
password is your date of birth in month, day, and year (mmddyy) format.
Single digit months and days must be preceded by a 0 so your password will have 6
digits (no spaces, dashes, hyphens or slashes).
-
For
example, John Doe, born on January 4, 1979 with 123-45-6789 as his
student ID will have a username of jdoe89 and a password of 010479.
Jane Smith-Doe (student ID 123-45-6789) would have a user name of
jsmith-doe89
-
Remember that all
Blackboard classes do not open until noon on the first day of the
quarter. You will not be able to login before that time.
-
After entering your user name and password, click on the Login button
(it looks like this
)
-
This will take you to the Blackboard
welcome page and you'll see your name in the upper left. Explore the links on this page.
Click here for a picture of the welcome
page.
-
In the box labeled My Courses
(upper right), you will
see a list of Blackboard courses in which you are enrolled. Each
course is listed as a hyperlink and selecting the link will take you
to the course. Click here for
a picture of the opening page of a course.
Settings
-
Please make sure you have turned off all
pop-up blockers. You can find them in stand
alone
programs, in antivirus software, in toolbars such as Google's, and in
firewall software. They must be disabled or some features such
as online testing will not work.
-
Make sure your browser is set to
accept cookies. Bb sets a session cookie and will not allow you
to log in if you block cookies.
-
You'll need the latest version of Java and
you can find it here
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
-
If you're using a Macintosh, we've found
that the Firefox browser works better with Blackboard than Safari.
You can download Firefox here

Instructor
E-mail
If
you need additional help or have trouble logging in to the course,
e-mail your GRCC instructor. Instructors' e-mail addresses are listed
on the class schedule. If your instructor's e-mail address is
not listed you may try e-mailing her/him by
using the instructor’s first initial and last name and the college
e-mail
address if you know the name. For example: Jane Doe would be jdoe@greenriver.edu.
Textbooks
Textbooks
can be purchased at the college bookstore. Their website is http://www.greenriver.edu/bookstore/
