Faces of Green River Main Heading

The Faces of Green River Family History Photographic Exhibition
emerged as a result of a partnership between the White River Historical Museum and Green River Community College. Funding and focus for the project has been made possible through a collaboration between the Green River Foundation and a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The NEH grant represents part of the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA) Faces of America national project which currently involves some thirty community colleges across the nation.

"The National Faces of America project is intended to stimulate interest in history and the humanities among members of one’s own family or institution. Throughout this project, we both have seen over and over again how the simple selection of a (family) photograph can launch an in-depth study of a person’s own family’s past. And further, we have seen how this in-depth study can take someone on a journey of exploration into their own history or the history of the institutions and communities to which they belong (school, work, church, ethnic group, neighborhood, etc.), connecting them to the history of the nation as well."
