Scholarship Student Success Story

Angelica Gonzalez
Sprenger Family Scholarship Recipient

The first in her family to attend college, Angelica Gonzalez is living proof that some people are born leaders. Her commitment to a better life brought Angelica to Green River, where she discovered the leader that she could be in the classrooms, in her work, and in her community.

What is remarkable is that Angelica's path was almost very different. As a student at West Auburn High School, she believed that she wasn't smart enough to attend college or a good enough student to receive a scholarship. She now believes that with hard work she can achieve anything - and has earned a 3.94 GPA to prove it.

Angelica was selected to receive the Sprenger Family Scholarship, created by Jim and Linda Sprenger in memory of Jim's parents Jack and Gertie Sprenger. Like Angelica, the Sprenger family is dedicated to making a difference and changing people's lives through education.

Angelica has started making a difference already - she serves as president of the Latin Student Union, Vice President of the Native American Association at GRCC and Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa. She also started a project to give back to her community by refurbishing computers and giving them to students in need. After completing a four-year degree, Angelica plans to be a leader in the corporate world. She wants a life that will allow her to show her daughter a different life then she knew, and that will allow her to give even more back to her community.
