  • Click on "Essay Questions" to see the full essay questions.
  • GRCC Foundation scholarships are awarded based on many different criteria. The answers you provide to the questions in this section will help the scholarship committee to determine the best scholarship fit for you.
  • Helpful hints for your scholarship essay -
    • Include information about all the questions that apply to you. Your essay is the best way for the scholarship committee to learn about you.
    • Tell your story. Don't just write about what you've done. If you could swap essays with someone else and the essay can apply to that person, it's not personal enough.
    • Proofread your essay. Don't rely on spell-check.
    • Have someone else proofread your essay - then proofread it again.
    • Include your name and GRCC Student ID number in case your essay becomes separated from the other parts of your application.
  • To Upload your essay: In "Edit Mode", use the Browse button to locate your file. When your file is uploaded, the file name will appear in the Essay "File Name field." Only the most recent file uploaded when you submit your application will be included.
  • GRCC activities - include activities and programs at GRCC in which you have participated. Activities outside GRCC should be included in your essay. You may include GRCC activities both here and in your essay. Do not write "see essay."
  • Other Specific Scholarship Criteria - These criteria cover information for specific scholarships not included in other parts of the application. Check any of these boxes that apply to you.
  • Letters of recommendation must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by 4:00 p.m. on April 30, 2012 to be considered as part of your application.
  • Click on "Letter of Recommendation Form" and print this document. This form allows the committee to make a more equal comparison and lets the person recommending you know the qualifications for which the committee is looking.
  • Submit at least one, but no more than three letters of recommendation with your application.
  • You may print or photocopy additional forms. Forms are also available at the Financial Aid Office.
  • Teachers, counselors, supervisors, and others who can speak to your academic record or career goals and financial need and past academic record should complete the form(s).
  • A spouse, parent, other family member, friend or classmate should not complete a recommendation form.
  • Complete the top part of the form. Your reference should complete the rest of the form and return it to you to submit with your application.
  • Explanation - your reference should include comments explaining why you are deserving of a scholarship, either in the space provided or in a separate letter (no more than one page).
  • Allow plenty of time - give your reference at least two to three weeks to complete your letter.

  • Unofficial transcripts or photocopies are acceptable.
  • If you have been out of school for more than five years and are unable to obtain a transcript, include an explanation in your application packet.
