GIS Instructor - Adjunct

The Technology Division is accepting applications to be considered for adjunct instruction.  Adjunct instructors are appointed quarter to quarter based on student enrollment. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Teach introduction to GIS Programming (GIS) classes as follows for Winter Quarter (Jan - Mar), Monday from 9 - 12 and Weds from 8 - 12 am.

GIS 255 - Introduction to GIS Programming - 5 credits

Introductory course focuses on two GIS programming approaches for ARCGIS desktop: cover basic of visual basic ArcObject and Python programming. Students will learn how to apply principles of object oriented programming to GIS application. Explore how Python scripts add functions to ArcGIS along with tools/buttons to call these functions and learn to write and debug scripts for ArcGIS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years experience with topics listed above and associates degree or higher in a field directly related to GIS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Commitment to community college students
  • Have at least two years of programming skills related to ArcGIS
  • Familiar with ArcObjects and Geoprocessing with Python
  • Have taken Intro to programming ArcObject Using .NET class from ESRI or equivalent experience
  • Have taken the intro to Geoprocessing scripts using Python and writing advanced
  • Geoprocessing scripts using python classes from ESRI or have equivalent experience.
  • Teaching experience

SALARY: Salary is determined by the college salary schedule, and varies depending on the degree and mode of instruction.
