Green
River Community College’s natural resources program prepares
students in five areas: forestry, water quality park
management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and wild
land fire prevention. The program may be taken as an applied
program for immediate employment upon graduation or as an
associate program for transfer to a bachelor degree program in
natural resources.
All areas within the program allow students to work outdoors
with natural resource professions like foresters and park
managers.
Dick
Hopkins, natural resources instructor, was recently honored by
the Society of American Foresters for his leadership in
forestry education. Hopkins is an innovator who has had a
significant impact on the field through his teaching,
curriculum development and commitment to student success.
Graduates in the program are sought after for positions in
industry and government.
International students are welcome in all areas of the
program. The Natural Resource Instructors working with the
International Educational Planners prepare an educational plan
for each student accepted in the program. The plan is a
pathway for students to reach their goals. To learn more about
the program, see
