Ya Chun (Christine) Wang came to Green River in March 2002 from Taiwan, with a goal of pursuing a degree in sports medicine.  At Green River she was able to take a lot of her prerequisites in small classroom settings. According to Christine, "This made it easier to ask questions and get the additional help I needed." In contrast, her friend who attended the University of Washington told her he had up to 300 students in his freshman and sophomore classes.

Green River also gave Christine the opportunity to get involved outside of her studies. Christine organized and planned activities for international students and also helped edit the student newspaper.

As a result of Green River's solid foundation, Christine was accepted into five American universities.  She chose to transfer to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill – a top university in the U.S.A.
