Math Instructor Receives Teaching
Excellence Award


Steve KinholtGreen River Community College mathematics instructor, Dr. Stephan Kinholt, has received a teaching excellence award from the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.

Kinholt, the Northwest region’s recipient, was one of seven math instructors honored in North America.

He was commended for his work as both an instructor and director of Project TEACH, a GRCC enterprise that is funded by the National Science Foundation to create new pathways into teaching careers. The Project TEACH model of including community colleges in the teacher preparation process is nationally-acclaimed.

The math association has about 2,600 members and serves the professional needs of two-year college mathematics faculty throughout the United States and Canada.
