Ping "Leo" Yang - Taiwan
Ping "Leo" Yang is from
Taiwan. He came to Green River Community College as a
High School Completion
Plus student winter quarter 2010. His sister, Pei Chi Yang, attended GRCC fours year before. Leo's goal is to major in Business Marketing, attend the University of Florida, and to join his sister's coffee business in Taiwan.
In March 2012, Leo was honored as part
of the
All Washington Academic Team. Students were chosen based on commitment to their education, volunteer service and plans for the future.
Leo is very active on campus. Last year he was an International Student Ambassador. He helped to plan events
for new international students, such
as CORE, New Student Orientation, a
trip to Seattle, and a Mariner's
baseball game. He also started a
club called "Volunteer Program
Association" to encourage
students to volunteer in their
community. The club now has 150
members and has participated in over 40 events
including Mud Runs, Seattle
Marathon, Volunteer Appreciation
Dinner. Just recently, the club raised $3000 which was
donated to the
Tanzanian Children's Fund.
"GRCC is the place where I
matured," said Leo. "It was
the turning point in my life. GRCC
is full of resources: jobs,
scholarships, awards - they are all
just waiting for you to tap into. You
can achieve anything at GRCC."
