Yanqitian Huang (Samuel)
is from Guilin, China. Samuel came to Green River Community College in the fall of 2010. He started out in Green River's Intensive English as a Second Language Program and is now majoring in Communications with a focus on Advertising. His goal is to transfer to a four year college in the U.S. to continue his study. Schools like Boston University and New York University are being considered.
"I was also considering attending Seattle Central Community College, but they did not have the campus feeling I was looking for and they did not have student housing." Sam is currently living in Campus Corner Apartments.
"My favorite thing about Green River is the CLEO program." CLEO stands for Community, Leadership, Education and Outreach. "I have been involved in CLEO for two years now. Last year I was the International Student Activities Programmer and this year I am an International Student Ambassador. We have one of the largest international student activities teams in the state of Washington. We really pay attention to the needs of international students"
"I'm really glad I chose Green River because the college offers so many opportunities to choose from and you can create your own oppotunities to develop yourself further. International Programs has a lot of friendly and dedicated faculty, staff and advisors. They even have someone who will help us with our personal statement for college."
Samuel Haung is one of the student leaders on campus who works to make this campus a better place for students.
