Khoi Phu Pham from Vietnam |
Khoi Phu
Pham came to Green River from Vietnam in December 2005. He decided
to change his major from Architecture to Civil Engineering after
finding out that Green River has one of the best engineering
programs in Washington State.
"I got really excited about the subject after taking the
introductory courses. My instructors, Jeff McCauley and Janet Ash
really inspired me. They have a lot of pride in what they do and are
great role models to the students. They not only care about our
academic growth, but also our personal growth. They have taught me
how to be better organized and to work effectively individually as
well as in teams. They have given me a great foundation that goes
beyond engineering and I know that I will be just as competitive as
students who started out in a top four-year university."
Khoi plans to concentrate on structural engineering. His goal is to
transfer to UC Berkley or UCLA this coming September.
Khoi maintains a 3.87 GPA. In addition to his studies, he is
involved in student government and various activities on campus. He
was the recipient of the Paul G. Dong scholarship for engineering
students, and honored at the 13th Annual
All Washington Academic Team celebration this past March.
