Holman Library Borrowing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Circulation?The circulation desk is located adjacent to the library entrance on the first floor. Library materials selected from the first or second floor are checked out and checked in at the circulation desk. Reserve materials and Interlibrary Loans are also processed through here. Do I need a Library Card?The GRCC photo ID card works as your library card. You must have one of these ID cards in order to check out books from Holman Library. Go to the circulation desk or the Paper Tree (bookstore) to get a GRCC Id card. Bring your photo id, and something showing your student id number (such as your temporary paper id or your schedule). Your first ID card is free. You must pay $10.00 at the Paper Tree bookstore to get a replacement. It is recommended that all Faculty and Staff have a GRCC ID card. The card is necessary for checking out materials from the library. How do I check out materials?BOOKS, CDs and DVDS: Take books, CD cases or DVD cases to the circulation desk on the first floor. You must have your student ID card to check out items from the library. If you do not yet have a student ID, you can get one at the circulation desk or the Paper Tree bookstore. See "Do I need a Library Card" above for more information. VHS VIDEOS: Write down the "VT..." call number for the video and take it to the circulation desk. The staff will retrieve the video for check out. How long can I keep the library's books & other items?There are different check out periods for books, videos and other materials. Students, staff, faculty and community borrowers may check out library materials over the breaks between quarters. Borrowers must show proper ID, and the check out date will be modified to reflect a due date for the beginning of the new quarter. Other items available for check out for a limited time are:
What happens if I don't return the library's items on time?When an item becomes overdue, an overdue notice is sent in the mail to the student. Holman Library charges for overdue items. Checking at the circulation desk periodically to confirm that your record is clear will prevent future inconvenience. What happens if I lose the library's items?Holman Library charges for lost items.
