Holman Library HistoryHolman Library is named after the "father" of Green River Community College, Hayes Holman, former Superintendent of the Auburn School District. The library opened in 1965, the same year GRCC moved to its present site. In January 1997, the library moved into a new building, situated just north of the original site. The old library building was renovated for classroom use and renamed the Rutkowski Learning Center. The Current Library BuildingThe Holman Library Building at GRCC is a 60,000 square foot information technology center incorporating the campus library, media services, a technology lab for faculty, and instructional classroom space. The Library itself houses 45,000 books and 300 periodical subscriptions. Library services are focused on the second floor Information Commons, an electronic reference and curriculum resource center staffed by the Library with over 140 networked workstations which provide access to various online databases, Microsoft Office, and the Internet. |
