Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring students to recognize when they need information and be able to ethically access, evaluate, and synthesize the needed information for academic, career, or personal gain. The librarians at Green River Community College seek to take an active role in infusing Information Literacy into student learning across campus.
While at Green River Community College, students can receive Information Literacy instruction in many ways. Credit-bearing library courses are offered. Librarians provide instruction at the reference desk, and students can request an appointment for face-to-face instruction or research help.
Faculty in any discipline can request instruction for their classes. Librarians will create tailored, "point of need" instruction to be delivered to your class in the library classroom, your classroom, or "virtually".
Use the library's 24/7 chat service.
