Double Bill by GRCC's Theatre Extemporé

(L-R) Kayla Moszer (Covington), Chailee Friant (Kent), and Sasha Beggs (Covington) star in Lysistrata at Green River Community College.

Green River Community College’s student production troupe, Theatre Extemporé, will present a double feature of “Lysistrata” and “The Mousetrap” for two consecutive weekends beginning May 30.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings May 30-31 and June 6-7 at Green River’s Bleha Center for the Performing Arts, 12401 SE 320th Street Auburn. Tickets are $9 general admission and $7 for students and seniors. One ticket grants admission to both shows.

“Lysistrata”, a one-act comedy, was adapted by Green River instructor Gary Taylor from the ancient Greek play by Aristophanes. Taylor sets the play in Athens, Ohio in the mid-20th century. Stephanie Wetherbee, of Renton, stars in the title role on the weekend of May 30-31 and Kentlake High School graduate Chailee Friant picks up the title character on the weekend of June 6 and 7. Friant recently returned from Orlando, Florida, where her team won the World Cheerleading Association’s Championship.

The second feature will be Agatha Christie’s classic who-done-it “The Mousetrap” that takes place in 1950’s Britain. An eclectic collection of guests of Monkswell Manor Guest House find themselves snowed in with a dangerous murderer in their midst.

Tickets and further details may be obtained by calling the student box office at (253) 933-9111, ext. 2400.
