Natural Resources Sponsors Earth Day & Arbor Day Celebrations

Merryn is sampling for invertebrates, a key wildlife indicator for wetland habitat.

This week it's all about being Green at Green River!

Green River's Natural Resources students and faculty are celebrating Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day, April 19-26. A display on the second floor of the Lindbloom Student Center will provide answers to contemporary issues: What is sustainable energy? What is biomass and how can it be used for fuel? What can we do to reduce energy dependence?

The Veterans Conservation Corps (VCC) is working on a restoration project on the Duwamish River on Saturday, April 19. See the VCC bulletin board in the first-floor hallway of SMT Building for information. Join hundreds of volunteers to work on multiple habitat restoration projects and reclaim the river!

The Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters, Forestry Club, and the Natural Resources program are also selling trees to plant for Arbor Day. You can also donate to have a tree planted for you in remembrance of someone. Visit their table outside LSC between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. all week.
