Because of generous sponsors from both on and off campus, the holiday season was a little brighter for 37 student families this year. A near equal number of donor groups and individuals responded to the call in early November and overflowed the conference room of the Student Life Office with bags and boxes of Christmas cheer, prompting smiles and in some cases, hugs and tears from grateful families.

Each year the Giving from the Heart program sponsors GRCC student families in need to provide gifts for the children and even food and other necessities when needed.

More highlights from this year’s campaign include:

• SkillsUSA Club sponsored 4 separate families
• One lucky family received a GRCC Christmas tree cut down by our very own Forestry Department
• Gifts were received from all the way down at our Kent Campus
• Staff from Valley Medical in Kent/Renton joined in
• Even our Firefighters local Union #1352 sponsor a family

We’d like to extend a really BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Fall 2011 Giving from the Heart program!  Because of you, Green River students and their families ended the year with a smile and a little hope for the start of a great 2012.
