Green River Community College student Angelica Gonzalez has been named a 2008 Next Step Scholarship recipient at the University of Washington Tacoma. Gonzalez is a sophomore from Auburn.

As a Next Step Scholar, Gonzalez will receive a two-year scholarship worth $12,900.

In March, Gonzalez was named to the All-Washington Academic Team, one of only 52 community and technical college students in the state honored. She has a 3.8 GPA and plans to major in business at UWT. In addition to her school work, Gonzalez is president of Green River’s Latino Student Union and vice-president of the Native American Club. She has also founded a non-profit group called Angelica’s Community Impact Project, which provides refurbished computers to programs serving youth.
